Dr. Matti Aapro

Advisory Board Member

Dr. Matti Aapro has been serving as an Honorary Advisor to the Indian Cancer Network (ICN) since 2014, supporting the organization in conceptualizing and designing mentoring programs for oncology professionals. A globally renowned oncologist, Dr. Aapro is a Board Member of the Genolier Cancer Center in Switzerland and served as the President of the European Cancer Organisation (2020-2021).
He holds a medical degree from the University of Geneva and has extensive experience in oncology, including his role as the founding chair of the Medical and Radiation Therapy Department at the European Institute of Oncology in Milan. Currently, Dr. Aapro is an Executive Board Member of the European School of Oncology (ESO) and leads the Sharing Progress in Cancer Care (SPCC) association.
His contributions to geriatric oncology and supportive cancer care are widely recognized, having served as President of the Multinational Association for Supportive Care in Cancer (MASCC) and as an Advisor to both the French-speaking Society for Supportive Care (AFSOS) and the Japanese Association for Supportive Care in Cancer (JASCC). With over 350 publications and numerous editorial roles, Dr. Aapro’s expertise in breast cancer, cancer in the elderly, and innovative cancer treatments continues to enrich ICN’s mission to advance oncology education and mentorship in India.
